How to make Yorkshire Tea Syrup

Here's how to make a simple tea syrup:

Ingredients:

  • 1 Litre water
  • 1 Kg caster sugar
  • 8 tea bags   - adjust amount based on desired strength

Instructions:

  1. Brew the Tea:

    • bring the water to a boil. Use a kettle or hot water from the coffee machine
    • Remove from heat and add the tea bags or loose leaf tea.
    • Steep for 5-10 minutes, depending on the type of tea and desired strength.
    • Remove the tea bags .
  2. Make the Syrup:

    • put the  tea into a saucepan on a medium heat.
    • Gradually add the sugar, stirring constantly until it dissolves completely.
    • Let the syrup simmer for a few minutes to slightly thicken.
    • Remove from heat and let it cool completely.
  3. Store:

    • Pour the cooled syrup into a clean, sterilized bottle.
    • Store in the refrigerator for up to 2 weeks.

Tips:

  • Adjust Sweetness: If you prefer a sweeter syrup, you can increase the amount of sugar. For a less sweet syrup, reduce the amount of sugar.
